Service Description
Occupational therapy for lymphedema and wound care focuses on restoring functional independence, reducing swelling, promoting skin integrity, and supporting clients in managing chronic conditions that impact daily life. Our trained occupational therapists provide evidence-based interventions to address both upper and lower extremity lymphedema and related wounds through a holistic, client-centered approach. Services may include: Comprehensive evaluation of swelling, skin condition, range of motion, and functional limitations Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) to promote fluid movement and reduce edema Multi-layer compression bandaging, using specialized materials to reduce limb volume and prevent re-accumulation of fluid Application and education on the use of Velcro-based compression wraps and graduated compression stockings Wound care support, including dressing changes, skin monitoring, and collaboration with wound care specialists when needed Education on skin care, infection prevention, and self-management techniques Training in donning/doffing compression garments and adaptive strategies to maintain independence in daily activities Functional rehabilitation to address the impact of lymphedema or wounds on mobility, self-care, and home management Our goal is to empower clients to manage their condition effectively while maintaining or improving their quality of life and ability to engage in meaningful activities.
